Antigua’s art scene encompasses a variety of studios and galleries where a visitor can meet the artist at work and discover their unique pieces.  Heather Doran is the island’s leading artist in fibres and specializes in collages and wall hangings which can be seen at her Gecko Studio just outside the capital St. John’s.  The New Pottery is actually the oldest pottery on the island and produces a variety of usable art including bowls and plates.  Other art media include sculpture, wood carvings, photography and paintings. 

Harmony Hall Gallery features exhibitions throughout the year of various Caribbean artists.  Visitors can take a stroll through the gallery as well as take breakfast or lunch.  Dinner is served on Fridays and Saturdays.   In November it is the location for the annual Antigua Artists’ Exhibition and Craft Fair.

For local folk art visit the colorful and vibrant farmers’ market, held each Friday and Saturday in the capital St. John’s, where you will also encounter local foods and have a unique opportunity to meet and interact with native Antiguans.
